I graduated from the University of Melbourne with an honours degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2003. After working the first several years as an intern and then as a hospital medical officer (HMO), I entered the anaesthesia training program in 2007. My anaesthetic training has taken 5 years to complete, and I gained my FANZCA from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in February 2012. My principal training took place at Austin Hospital, Northern Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Mercy Hospital for Women and Royal Children's Hospital.
I completed my anaesthesia training with fellowships at Royal Melbourne Hospital and Alfred Hospital, focusing on fibreoptic airway training, ENT and maxillofacial anaesthesia, neuroanaesthesia and trauma anaesthesia.
I am currently a visiting anaesthetist at Northern Hospital and Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. I also engage in private practice through my anaesthetic group - Associated Anaesthetists Group. I routinely anaesthetise for general surgical, endoscopy, urology, orthopaedic, plastics, ENT, dental, ophthalmic, paediatric, obstetric/gynaecological, vascular and neurosurgery lists. I actively supervise and engage trainees and other health professionals throughout their work.
My active interests and skills are in advanced airway management, fibreoptic airway skills, ENT and maxillofacial anaesthesia, ophthalmic anaesthesia, perioperative medicine and regional anaesthesia.
I have publications entitled 'A Randomised Controlled Trial Comparing the Ambu aScope 2 with a Conventional Fibreoptic Bronchoscope in Orotracheal Intubation of Anaesthetised Adult Patients' which was published in the Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Journal July 2015, and 'Fit Testing Disposable P2/N95 Respirators during COVID-19 in Victoria, Australia : Fit Check Evaluation, Failure Rates, and a Survey of Healthcare Workers' which was published in COVID July 2021.
I have also completed a Masters in Medicine (Perioperative Medicine) through Monash University in 2016, and awarded the recognition of Diploma of Perioperative Medicine (DipPOM) through the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2023.
I travel abroad for overseas aid work in developing countries such as Mongolia, where I have given lectures and performed clinical work in perioperative medicine and ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia.
